Arturo Fuente is a distinguished brand of cigars that was founded by Arturo Fuente Sr. Arturo Fuente Cigars are produced and manufactured under the name A. Fuente by Tabacalera A. Fuente y Cia.

History

First beginning in 1912, the Arturo Fuente cigar brand was born in Ybor City, which is within Tampa Florida. Production and manufacture of the brand of cigars stopped in 1924 when a fire destroyed the sole factory however production of the cigars resumed in 1930. From the beginning until the 1960s, the A. Fuente brand cigar was made with Cuban tobacco. However the United States embargo with Cuba ceased this relationship and the cigars have been made ever since with Dominican tobacco.

Production of the brand moved to Nicaragua in the 1970s. The Sandinistas burned this factory down as well and production was halted. Again, the factory was relocated where it burned down two months later in Honduras. During 1980, after producing cigars in Tampa Florida for a brief period, production of the cigars was relocated to the Dominican Republic. Today, the Dominican remains the home base of the family's high scale tobacco production. The production company and factory empoys over 2000 people on 4 plantations and in 6 factories.

The Arturo Fuente cigars cover a wide and diverse range from very expensive premium cigars to very inexpensive cigars. In 1995, Fuente Fuente Opus X was introduced and it remains the Fuente family's most renowned type of cigar. The diversity of price, quality and product range has long been a successful aspect of the A. Fuente brand. Whereas the Opus X serves as the companies most prized cigar, others such as the 858 and the Hemingway are extremely popular among cigar buyers as well. Additionally, Fuente cigars come in a wide range of sizes covering the giant presidente and the very small cigarillo. A Fuente cigars are well known for their quality control. Most boxes of their cigars are packed with a very advanced humidifier device which assists to ensure the freshness and stability of the end product.
