Bolivar Cigars

A very strong cigar, the Bolivar Cuban Cigars has been in operation for more than a century. Even though the actual registration of the cigar was only in 1921, the brand name Bolivar is already a well know product in Cuba and in Great Britain. The name Bolivar came from the great leader Simone Bolivar and in honor of the great hero, these cigars were created. Jose F. Rocha was responsible in putting up this brand. When he registered the brand, it’s already under a corporation which is also owned by Rocha, the J.F. Rocha y Cia. At the same time, they also created one of the world’s smallest cigars. Called the Delgado, it also became famous for some time. In fact some of the cigars are still on display in Windsor Castle. By the time the Cuban Revolution started, Bolivar is already a national brand eventually breaking out of the country to various parts of the globe.

There are quite a number of types of Bolivar Cigars but they can be differentiated into three groups: the handmade, the machine made and special cigars. Almost all of the Bolivar cigars are hand made. Only one type of cigar is machine made. Called the Chico it’s a essentially the cigarillo or your regular cigarettes. Other types of cigar are all handmade since they would like to keep the tradition of quality through years. They have two special cigars: the Gold Medal and the Colosal. The Gold Medal cigars were made specially made in 2005 for Wolters – a big German company based in Cologne. Colosal on the other hand is a special cigar that was released only in Germany in 2006. Other Cigars are almost available worldwide. Each of them has their own distinct taste, shape of corona and size. Every cigar enthusiast should be able to know their difference as they really differ but with the same brand.

The Bolivar Cigars are reviewed by many as a very strong cigar – true to the behavior of most Cuban cigars. It has the classic earth taste that most cigar enthusiasts are looking for. In 2005 some of the Bolivar Cigars were re-released. Most of the re-released products of Bolivar Cigars reflect the original cigars that were released in 1901 (or 1902). Using the best cigar leaves from Nicaragua and Honduras, they created the full flavored cigar which was sought by many.
