History

The La Gloria Cubana brand was originally created in 1885 by Sociedad Cabañas Castro. After around twenty years, in 1905, it was bought by José F. Rocha. He then started manufacturing these cigars in his factory situated in Miguel Street in Havana. After Mr. Rocha's death in 1954, the Cifuentes bought La Gloria Cubana from Rocha's former company. The Production was shifted to a new location at the Partagás Factory, which is where it still continues to be produced and exported all over the world.

According to the history of La Gloria Cubana Cigars, the production seemed to cease for many years after the Revolution. There was a time when people used to queue in front of shop of Ernest Carillo in Miami for hours to taste the cigar that created a new trend in the cigar world. Then around 1965 the brand was resurrected at the factory of Partagás. Though these cigars are produced in quite small quantities but it maintains its quality perfectly and is therefore very popular with connoisseurs all over the world. La Gloria Cubana brand also manufactures two machine-made cigarillos that are the Purito and the Mini.

Currently La Gloria Cubana is produced in the Dominican Republic. The Miami factory produces just a handful of cigars, which are mainly for their local markets. La Gloria Cubana cigars come in wide range from medium to full bodied. Their aroma is quite spicy and yet very earthy. The taste of the cigars is luxurious and bold. Each puff attacks you subtly and there is no feeling of harshness after a few puffs. The cigar will start very strongly and settle quite fast.
